The Director's Chair by Zew is a fusion of skill, craftsmanship and dedication to saving the planet. The chair is built with a durable species of Bamboo called Dendrocalamus strictus which is commonly known as Solid Bamboo. It can only be grown and cultivated in specific areas and it is a very desired bamboo when creating durable yet sustainable furniture. It is strong enough to take a nail without splitting the bamboo. Upon the frame we add 2 pieces of strong and thick canvas that is UV treated to increase its longevity, strength and make it easier to clean. Each frame is connected with galvanized material to prevent rust and also increase its longevity. With a lightweight and ergonomic shape, the Director's chair is a perfect choice for the patio, beach, park or a picnic. The chair easily folds for storage when not in use. The chair measures 23"L x 18"W x 35"H while the removable Canvas Measures 24"L x 15"W x 1"H. The Solid Bamboo chair weighs approx. 11 Lbs and has a seating capacity of 290 Lbs. Proudly Made by Zew.
ZEW's mission is to protect, restore and replenish our planet through the use of bamboo toward an absolute zero emission life style. Large scale and massive use of bamboo for home furnishings, housing and transportation products served as carbon sinks which will lead us towards zero carbon foot print. ZEW promotes handicraft skills and stimulate local economies to lift communities out of poverty. ZEW Inc. is the antidote to the “Story of Stuff”, of unconscious consumerism. Proven for centuries as a durable building material, they are inspired by this strong and beautiful grass. Bamboo has earned scientific recognition as an essential renewable resource, fundamental to sustainable living and beneficial to environmental health. ZEW uses native species of bamboos in the regions where we work. Currently, ZEW uses Vietnamese timber bamboos such as Bambusa Barbatus and solid bamboos Dendrocalamus Strictus. Both are harvested annually by local farmers from private lands, community and natural forests. ZEW strictly adheres to internationally standardized treatment procedures in preparing their bamboo for production. These processes are proven to be non-toxic and environmentally sound and ensure a finished product that withstands the test of time.
